Insty Update [2/28/13]

My life isn't always geared towards travel (sadface), here is what I've been up to this month!

|1| Superbowl XLVII drinking rules
|2| My favorite addybear came to visit
(can't wait until we have her for 6 weeks this summer!)
|3| Valentines Day flowers came early this year as ....
|4| We spent Feb 14 flying to Moscow!
|5| Visiting the candy castle aka St. Basil's
|6| Celebrating valentines day in Moscow was easy, we joined
others in leaving a lock on these love lock trees!
|7| Can't travel and not take a selfie right?
|8| La Boum brunch (read: best brunch in DC)

Next month should be a little sunnier as we're spending four days in St. George, Grenada!

Hong Kong

Talk about a distracting city! If you don't have ADD, you will while you spend time walking around the streets of Hong Kong. We were only there for a few days but we were able to squeeze in a lot.

|*| We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong (snazzypants, but we found a certificate online that gave us a great rate) We had great views overlooking Victoria harbor and into Kowloon

Kowloon across the harbor
rough monday morning

|*| Wandering the streets of HKG without a plan is both overwhelming and exhilarating.
Make sure to check out the parks you stumble on!

|*| Take the Peak Tram up to the top of Hong Kong island for some amazing views
of the urban landscape

|*| If you're starting to get claustrophobic in the city, spend the morning
visiting Big Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery  (you can grab lunch here too!)

|*| After you visit the Big Buddha, do some shopping at the nearby Ngong Ping Village (we picked up a great chopstick set). If you're looking for a fun way to get back to the city,
take the glass bottom cable car!

yes, I had too much fun in this thing

|*| And lastly, make sure you get a great spot for the evening Symphony of lights. 40+ buildings on both sides of the harbor light up synchronization with the music and it's a fantastic show :)

La Boum = Tres Fun

I share my city with over 15 million visitors every year and hope to show that there is more to DC than White House tours, monuments, and the Smithsonian.

La Boum (noun :  la booem) from the French slang popular with teens for “house party”

Oh. Em. Gee. I knew it was going to get out of hand but seriously?!

I wish I stayed this classy ...

#FriFotos [2/22/13]

I stumbled on #FriFotos and totes love the idea of it. Every Friday Jonathan challenges his followers to post a photo based on a theme. Seeing as I can spend an entire afternoon looking through old trip photos, I'm 100% on board with this! I plan on posting pictures only from trips so fingers crossed I have enough (like I need another excuse to go on a trip...)

So my first #FriFoto theme is, drumroll please, Celebrate!

In October '12 a group of friends and I went to Miami, FL to celebrate my 25th birthday and enjoy some 2-for-1 jumbo drinks (and surprise sweets!)
