Grenada > Snowquestration

Water cooler convos this week we're all about the snowquester (or Saturn as the NWS is calling it). The anticipation of 5-10" brought me down from my Grenada daydreams back to a cold reality (no fair, didn't I just get back from Moscow!?).

Alas, DC has yet to really get anything but rain. So back to Grenada daydreams I go!

Grand Anse Beach, the stuff day dreams are made of
Luckily Going to a Caribbean paradise doesn't require much planning beyond which bikini and sundress to bring (answer: all of them).

La Boum = Tres Fun

I share my city with over 15 million visitors every year and hope to show that there is more to DC than White House tours, monuments, and the Smithsonian.

La Boum (noun :  la booem) from the French slang popular with teens for “house party”

Oh. Em. Gee. I knew it was going to get out of hand but seriously?!

I wish I stayed this classy ...

Lazy DC Resident Goes to the Inauguration

Lazy may not be the right term, but I certainty wasn't down for staking out my spot on the mall/parade route at 6:30am! Figuring it's never going to get any easier than it would today for me to attend an inauguration, I decided to brave the crowds (estimated to be around 800,000 vs 2.3 million in 2008) and head down to the National Mall.

walking down was easier said than done

After about 40 minutes of road blocks I made it down to the mall. Seeing as some people had gotten there a good four hours prior to me, I went to the only open area left which was by the Washington Monument. There was a jumbo tron set up (which cut out CONSTANTLY, both video and sound) but I got the gist of it and was able to say 'I was there'.

Below are a few pics I got...

Had I wanted a button, these kids would have gotten all my monies
Rando: Gayle King wandering the streets. And I mean wandering, she looked dazed and confused
I was a little worried about the porta-potties situation so I didn't have anything to drink prior to going. Turns out I was in the minority with that concern

All in all it was a great morning and I realize how lucky I am to be able to take advantage of special events like this by just going for a short stroll. A bonus of going? I got to test out my new jacket and fleece-lined leggings for Russia and can report back that I stayed so warm! Phew!
